SEFAR Aventure was founded in Djanet by guides who grew up at the foot of the Tassili.
Sefar is the name of a rock-art site on the Tassili plateau — a place where people have been painting their lives on stone for thousands of years. We chose it because that is what we want our trips to be: a chance to understand the people and landscapes of Algeria, not just pass through them.
We run every trip with our own staff: guides, drivers, cooks and cameleers from the communities we visit. Groups are small, camps are simple and comfortable, and we pay fair wages that keep tourism income in the Sahara.
Clear prices with no surprises. Honest advice about seasons and fitness. And a team that answers the phone before, during and after your trip.

Standing in front of the Sefar paintings with a guide who could explain every figure was the highlight of years of travel. The camp crew made every evening feel like a celebration.
The red dunes looked unreal. Everything was organised down to the last detail, from the visa letter to the hot water for washing each morning.
The sunrise at Assekrem was worth the whole journey. Small group, great food, and a guide who clearly loves his mountains.
