Constantine
Great civilisations of Algeria: from Tipaza to Ghardaïa
Thirteen days across 2,000 years of history: Oran, Roman Tipaza and Cherchell, Algiers, Djemila, Constantine, Timgad, the Aurès, the oasis of Biskra and the M'zab valley.
Eight days on the trail of Numidian Cirta and Roman Africa: Constantine, Tiddis, the bay of Skikda, Hippo, Guelma, Djemila, Timgad and the legionary camp of Lambaesis.
Constantine was Cirta, capital of the Numidian kings, and the region around it holds an extraordinary density of ancient sites. After two days in the city itself, this circuit visits the hill town of Tiddis, the beaches of Stora near Skikda, Hippo Regius at Annaba and the Roman theatre of Guelma with the hot springs of Hammam Meskhoutine.
The second half reaches the UNESCO sites of Djemila and Timgad, the Numidian mausoleum of Medghassen and the camp of the Third Legion at Lambaesis, with a night next to the ruins of Timgad and a sunrise visit. Easy walking on archaeological sites.
Welcome, an orientation walk on the Rock and a traditional dinner.
The Cirta museum, the Souika quarter, the Ahmed Bey palace and the souks.
