Algiers
Algiers the White: from the Ottoman Casbah to Roman Tipaza
Seven easy days around Algiers: the Casbah and its palaces, the museums and botanical garden, Tipaza and Cherchell by the sea, the western coast and the Chiffa gorges.
Four days in the white city: the Casbah's palaces, the bay from Notre-Dame d'Afrique and the Roman ruins of Tipaza by the sea.
Algiers climbs steeply from its bay, its white buildings giving it the name El Bahdja, "the radiant". This short circuit with SEFAR Aventure combines the capital's highlights with the Roman coast to the west.
You explore the Casbah, a UNESCO site of Ottoman palaces, mosques and stairways, with a local guide who knows its families and its history. You ride the cable car to Notre-Dame d'Afrique for the view over the bay, walk in the Jardin d'Essai, one of the great botanical gardens of the Mediterranean, and visit the Martyrs' Memorial.
A full day takes you to Tipaza, where Roman, Punic and Christian ruins stand above the sea, and to the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania. Our Algiers team, led by Amine, handles transfers, guides and hotels. Ideal on its own or before a trip to the Sahara.
Airport transfer and an evening walk along the waterfront boulevards.
Guided visit of the Casbah, Ketchaoua Mosque and Dar Mustapha Pacha.
Day trip to the Roman city of Tipaza and the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania.
Morning at the basilica above the bay and the Hamma garden, then airport transfer.
A valid passport (6 months) and an Algerian visa or visa-on-arrival authorisation are required. We send the invitation documents you need once your booking is confirmed.
