Algiers, Tipaza & the Casbah
Four days in the white city: the Casbah's palaces, the bay from Notre-Dame d'Afrique and the Roman ruins of Tipaza by the sea.
Seven easy days around Algiers: the Casbah and its palaces, the museums and botanical garden, Tipaza and Cherchell by the sea, the western coast and the Chiffa gorges.
This circuit shows the many faces of the capital region. In Algiers you walk the stairways of the Casbah to the Palais des Raïs and Notre-Dame d'Afrique, and visit the Bardo, the Fine Arts museum and the Jardin d'Essai. Then you head west to the Roman ruins of Tipaza and Cherchell, sleeping by the sea.
The return follows the coast via Sidi Fredj, and a last excursion takes you inland to the Chiffa gorges, home to Barbary macaques, and the market of Blida. Flat walking only, apart from the Casbah steps.
