Sixteen days on foot in one of the Sahara's best-kept secrets: the sandstone canyons, waterfalls, palm groves and dune seas of the Tassili n'Immidir, north of Tamanrasset.
Overview
Between the Hoggar and the Tademaït, the Tassili n'Immidir (also called Mouydir) is a vast sandstone plateau cut by deep canyons. Water collects in gueltas below dry waterfalls, wild palms grow in the wadis, and gazelles still cross the plains. Fine paintings and engravings hide in its shelters, and two dune seas border it to the south.
This is a demanding trek for experienced walkers, with long days on rocky ground and in sand, supported by a camel team. Nights are all in bivouac except in Tamanrasset. It rewards you with a feeling of true remoteness.

Day 1 Arrival in Tamanrasset Tamanrasset
Welcome at Tamanrasset airport by the SEFAR team and transfer to a guesthouse.

Day 2 To the Immidir Oued Iherdjane
Long 4x4 transfer north to the wadi Iherdjane, where the camel team is waiting.

Days 3–5 Canyons, gueltas and fine paintings Oued Labiod
Across the plateau and down into canyons; a large guelta at Adjror, mouflon paintings and stone forests above the wadi Labiod.

Days 6–8 Red wadis and pink sandstone In Djenan
Vegetated wadis, a waterfall guelta at Tahaft, pink sandstone forests and the palm grove of In Djenan.

Days 9–10 The wadi Tissedet Oued Tissedet
Two days in the wadi Tissedet: the guelta of Ibnewen, reeds, gazelles and narrow gorges.

Days 11–12 Into the dunes Erg Bou Zerafa
Climbing and crossing the dunes of Erg Bou Zerafa, then barchan plains and tamarisks.

Days 13–14 Erg Mehedjibat and Erg Gourdane Erg Mehedjibat
Farewell to the cameleers, short transfer and two nights among the great dunes, including a viewpoint from a 250-metre dune.

Day 15 Arak gorges and Tamanrasset Tamanrasset
Return south through the Arak gorges; visit of Tamanrasset and dinner at the guesthouse.

Day 16 Departure Tamanrasset
Transfer to Tamanrasset airport for your flight.
